Dirty Jobs Complete Review – DJC vs Year-Old Coffee Stains

11 Apr

Hi everyone, it’s Jess. I’m testing our products again, this time writing a Dirty Jobs Complete review.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Dirty Jobs Complete, here’s some background. Mike Rowe, from the Dirty Jobs TV show, spends much of his time finding (and doing) some of the dirtiest jobs in America. Launching a line of cleaning products that make life easier for people after a long day of work at a dirty job seemed like a great idea. I mean, who knows dirt better than Mike Rowe?

As for me, when I got my hands on Dirty Jobs Complete, I knew exactly how I wanted to try it out. My best friend is a coffee drinker, but she is also a bit clumsy at times. When she came to visit, she spilled her coffee all over our very light beige carpet.

Those stains have been on the carpet for an entire year (what? I am quite lazy), and I thought, “If Dirty Jobs Complete can get that out, I will be really impressed.”

Readers, I am really impressed. Not only did the stains come out, but I realized how dirty our carpet actually is. How dirty? Let’s just say that the carpet may have been more white than beige. Lucky for me (and perhaps you as well), you can mix up and use Dirty Jobs Complete in those carpet cleaning machines like the ones you can rent from the store. I think I have my next weekend project planned.

I also used Dirty Jobs Complete in my bathroom to get rid of some mildew in my shower. It came right off – no stains!  Speaking of stains, wondering what kinds of stains you can remove with Dirty Jobs Complete? Use Dirty Jobs Complete to take on grease, oil, grass, blood, sauce, ketchup, mustard, tea, coffee, and wine stains.

Admittedly I’m not the cleanest person around, so I really appreciate how easy Dirty Jobs Complete is to use and how well it works, even on set-in stains. You can put Dirty Jobs Complete in your washing machine for a cleaner laundry boost, or use it to treat clothes or upholstery fabric for help with your hard-to-remove stains. All the directions are right there on the container to tell you how much of the Dirty Jobs Complete concentrated powder to use and also how you should mix and use it. It’s so effective and ridiculously simple to use – perfect for me!

Fine Print Font Size Rating – 96pt: Readers, I love when I’m able to review a stellar product and give it a 96pt font size. True, this is a Buy One Get One Free offer, but you only pay P&H on the 1st container of Dirty Jobs Complete. Not only that, but you get the Dirty Jobs spray bottle, a Dirty Jobs shammy, and THREE Dirty Jobs Sponges free as well! It’s a great deal, especially when you realize that ONE container is worth what you pay. Everything else is gravy, which, by the way, is ANOTHER stain you can remove with Dirty Jobs Complete!

Always selling sincerely,

Jess

Amy’s Magic Mesh® Screen Door Review

21 Mar

Spring has sprung, and in honor of this time of year, we have a new Magic Mesh review, this time from Top TV Stuff Amy herself! That’s right – it’s time for everyone to break out their Magic Mesh screen doors and start letting those wonderful breezes into your homes. If you haven’t gotten yours yet, now is the time. I’ll let Amy’s Magic Mesh review tell you why you should:

As some of you may know, I have a crazy dog.  He’s a lover and as fun as a bucket of monkeys, but he’s nuts.  He is a tad bit insecure, so if he’s outside and I’m inside, well, that outside visit lasts about a minute before he whines to come in and just “check things out.” He does a lap around the house, makes sure I haven’t given his toys away to some other neighborhood puppy, sniffs me to be sure my pheromones haven’t changed, double-checks his food bowl to be sure I didn’t secretly fill it without him knowing, then goes and stands at the door to be let out.  This cycle repeats ENDLESSLY.

photo of dog walking through the Magic Mesh Screen Door

Superdog is able to walk right through!

When I received the Magic Mesh, I was ELATED at the prospect of the dog being able to manage going in and out by himself.  Genius!  The Magic Mesh itself was pretty simple, it’s just a hanging mesh fabric screen, cut in two to provide an easy opening to pass through & it opens and closes with magnets.  I am the laziest person alive, so I just kind of tacked it to my upper door frame and didn’t attach any sides – I did a slap-shod job – but my laziness aside, the door worked like a charm.  It kept out flies and bugs for the most part – a few snuck in but not as many as when I just leave the door wide open to accommodate the dog.  I DID have a bird get in, which was…exciting…but I am pretty sure that is not the norm – only my crazy luck.

It worked great for the dog – who upped his “check in” rotation by about a million, running in and out every three minutes for the better part of the three months I had it hanging!  Unfortunately, the Magic Mesh didn’t last because of my assembly (see earlier mention of my laziness) and mix that with my lack of grace – I stepped on the bottom of the mesh without realizing it and then kept RIGHT on walking, which tore the fabric from the frame.  I blame my parents for my lack of grace more than the Magic Mesh itself for that one.

Overall, I love this product.  It’s not a total replacement of a screen door in that it isn’t as sturdy and it will allow some creatures to pass through, but for the price and what I needed it for – easy in and out for the cooler months – it was perfect.  I’d recommend this to anyone with a pet or an active good-weather lifestyle where you’re running in and out: picnics, kids playing, gardening – the kind of stuff non-lazy people do!

Thanks so much, Amy, for adding another great Magic Mesh review to our site!

Fine Print Font Size Rating: 12pt –Magic Mesh® is still a Buy One Get One Free offer! This could be just the thing for this time of year!

Jess

Jess’ Totally Awesome GoJo Hands Free Review

23 Feb

I know I’ve been quiet for a bit letting other people review products, but I couldn’t pass this particular product up. I am beside myself because I’m able to write this GoJo Hands Free review. In fact, you might say that nothing has made me happier than the day when GoJo Hands Free headset came into my life. Ok, that’s a pretty bold statement, and it’s not 100% true, but so far in 2012, the GoJo Hands Free headset is pretty much the best thing I’ve ever seen.

banner for the GoJo Hands Free headsetNow, if I weren’t excited enough, I read the GoJo Hands Free review on CNET (awesome), and my co-workers and I have talked about the commercial here A LOT, mainly because Joe puts an old school MacBook on his GoJo Hands Free headset and wears it. ON HIS HEAD. But I was interested for a different reason.

I have a certain brand of smartphone, one that may or may not start with a lowercase letter “i,” and I have had the hardest time trying to get a headset that works well with it. Using it with Bluetooth on my GPS isn’t great – I can hear my friends, but they don’t hear me well. Using it with the headphones+microphone that come with it doesn’t work well because they get tangled and also wear out, plus – you have to plug it in. I can’t (or don’t want to) say how many times I’ve answered my phone yelling, “I’M HERE! I’M HERE! HOLD ON! I’M ALMOST THERE! JUST. GOT. TO. PLUG. IN. THIS. Okay, here I am, hello.”

Yes, that is exactly what happens.

But with GoJo Hands Free, using the headset is actually as easy as Joe says it is. He is on point with the “one Mississippi” claim. Admittedly, putting the GoJo Hands Free headset on is not easy to do while driving, and I do not advocate doing so. If you’re in the car, and you need to call someone, please wait until you are stopped before you put the GoJo™ Hands Free on your head. I made that mistake one time and thought it was curtains for the Jess-meister.

photo of Jess wearing a GoJo Hands Free for her GoJo Hands Free Review

Yes, it's really me, and I'm TOTALLY HANDS FREE!

I know what you all are wondering. How silly does Jess look wearing this? Answer: Pretty silly. The GoJo Hands Free headset is not something I predict will become a fashion trend. Personally, I could really care less if I look silly or not. If using the GoJo Hands Free headset means that I don’t have to hold my phone and can hear the caller on the other end of the line without tangled cords and microphones that pick up the sound of my car’s air vents, then I’m all about it.

Seriously, my best friend once thought I was caught in a windstorm, and I only had my vents blowing at 2 out of 4.

Quality is key for me, and the suction cup on my GoJo Hands Free headset is fantastic. I’ve used it in both cold and moderate temperatures, and it has held my phone perfectly. The headset itself also adjusts to fit head sizes and phone sizes.

Fine Print Font Size Rating – 12 pt: Ah, the Buy Two Get Two offer. You will get FOUR GoJo Hands Free headsets as well as glossy round stickers to put on your phone in case your phone does not stick to the suction cup (my phone case is glossy, so I didn’t have that problem). You should give the other ones to friends who drive and talk while holding their phones. I use mine every day, and I bet your super chatty friends will, too.

Always selling sincerely,

Jess

An Easy Reach Review That Puts It to the Test

24 Jan

Jess here – If you remember the first Easy Reach review I did on Fine Print Large Font, you’ll recall that I used a paper towel holder to test the Easy Reach plant pulley. Our reviewer Carrie decided to try it with a bag of infant toys to great success! Read her Easy Reach review:

Easy Reach on My Neighbor's Porch

An Easy Reach Plant Pulley in action.

I live in a townhouse without much of a yard.  As such, I have not yet developed my “green thumb”.  When I received the Easy Reach I decided to test it out using non-living objects before committing to a hanging plant.  At first inspection the Easy Reach seemed easy enough to operate.  Simply attach an object, such as a plant, or in my case a bag of infant toys to one end and hang the top end on a hook, again in my case, a hook on the ceiling of my kitchen.

To operate, just push the item up to release the lock on the pulley and hold on to the object while you lower it to the desired height.  Make sure to hold on to the object at all times as the pulley does not automatically lock wherever the user desires.  Either you lower the object all the way or there seems to be a halfway point where the pulley also locks.  Then, to raise the object, push the object up all the way so the hook attached to the object is back at the starting position (i.e. close to the pulley).

My first test with the bag of infant toys went well.  The set- up of the Easy Reach took seconds.  I found it easy to maneuver into the unlock position and gently lower the bag to a manageable height.  I did learn the hard way, however, that the latch system used with the Easy Reach only locks either when it reaches full extension and at about half way extended.  Returning the Easy Reach system to the initial non-extended position was not difficult either.

After this test using completely non-living objects, I think I might be ready to actually try my “green thumb” by purchasing some plants to hang from under our deck.  I think…

Thanks again, Carrie, for another fine Easy Reach review. I also should mention that I ran into my neighbor that I gave an Easy Reach to a few weeks ago, and she told me (and I quote), “I adore it. Thank you so much.” Score one new neighbor friend! Thanks Easy Reach!

Fine Print Font Size Rating: 12pt – A straightforward offer. As we’ve said before, Easy Reach Plant Pulleys come two to a box, so when you buy one box of 2, you get another box of 2 free, plus P&H. The P&H is per box of Easy Reach, not per each Easy Reach in the box.

Always selling sincerely,

Jess

New Year, New Gyro Bowl Review

3 Jan

Happy New Year FPLF Fans! We’re kicking off 2012 with Natalie’s great Gyro Bowl review! Enjoy!

My four kids were beyond excited when we received a Gyro Bowl in the mail to test out. My 6-year-old, who is nothing if not persistent, has been trying to explain to me why the Gyro Bowl is so awesome for at least 2 months now. I figured it would be another item that would eventually make it to the donation pile in the garage – but – I stand corrected. I let my 3-year-old twins (a two-man demolition team if there ever was one) test it out by running through the house with a Gyro Bowl full of various cereals and small crackers. And you know what? Only a few pieces of food escaped the Gyro Bowl and hit the floor! I even let them take it in the car to and from a swim meet this weekend – they had previously been cut off from eating in the car because they always made such a mess. Since we used the Gyro Bowl, I didn’t have to spend an hour vacuuming out the car when we got home from our road trip.

We also came up with another fun way to use the Gyro Bowl – a mini colander – we used the lid to collect the water drips under the base of the Gyro Bowl and the kids spun the strawberries and blueberries inside the inner bowl to shake the water off the fruit.

From the perspective of organized kitchen storage, it is kind of awkward – but I understand that its shape and overall design is part of what makes the Gyro Bowl work so well. Aesthetically, I love the colors and the modern design appeal. But all moms know, none of that matters if the product doesn’t work – good thing this one does! I will absolutely buy 3 more so they can all have their own.

A mini colander? Genius! Thanks again, Natalie, for adding another great Gyro Bowl review to our site!

Fine Print Font Size Rating: 96pt – It’s always great when we can share an offer with you that has a 96pt font size rating. Nothing hiding here. The current offer is if you buy one Gyro Bowl, you will get another one free, and you only pay P&H on the first Gyro Bowl. The second is a true free item!

Always selling sincerely,

Jess
